Dan Baker, Ph.D

Course(s) taught: Resilience

Dr. Dan Baker is the Owner and President of Dan Baker Consulting. He was also the Director of Behavioral Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital, the National Center for Preventive and Stress Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona. The National Center was a program designed to evaluate by way of sophisticated non-invasive cardio-impedance technology, highly ambitious strongly work focused executives for the possibility of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and stroke. This brought direct contact with extremely high achieving executives and professionals from around the world and ultimate lead to the development of Executive Coaching and Organizational Consulting. Many of these executives lead family owned or controlled business. As a result of working with these individuals there were numerous occasions where an invitation was extended to work with other family members, including the family group, and key professional managers in their business.

Dr. Baker was the founding director of the highly acclaimed Life Enhancement Center, at the world famous Canyon Ranch Health Resort. It includes the disciplines of medicine, nutrition, exercise physiology, and executive coaching. This program is designed to help executives make and sustain healthy life style changes. Interaction with family business leaders in this program lead to the development of the Canyon Ranch Healthy Families in Business Program. The demographics of the ranch guests included the highest levels of leadership in business, finance, film, music, politics, health, professional sports, art, education, and other important facets of society and the economy.

Dr. Baker was faculty at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he taught in the departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics.

Dr. Baker received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska., M.A. in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Baker graduated from Pershing College in Beatrice, Nebraska with his B.S. Cum Laude in Statistics. Post-Doctoral Supervision, Medical Psychology, (specializing in stress and cardiovascular disease), from the University of Nebraska Medical College.
