Elizabeth Bechard, BA, RYT

Clinical Research Coordinator, Integrative Health Coach, Integrative Health Coach Professional Training Program Instructor

Elizabeth Bechard joined the research team at Duke Integrative Medicine in 2012. She has worked on the EMBARK study, which examines the role of Swedish massage in the treatment of osteoarthritis; an NIH-funded pilot trial looking at the use of integrative therapies in the treatment of severe tinnitus; and numerous other research studies exploring the impact of integrative health coaching.

In addition, Elizabeth is a certified integrative health coach, trained at Duke Integrative Medicine. She has coached for several research studies exploring the role of integrative health coaching with a variety of health concerns, including postpartum weight retention, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. As a health coach in private practice, Elizabeth has worked with clients facing a wide range of issues. She has supported clients in developing sustainable stress management strategies, navigating cancer and fertility treatments, making meaningful career changes, establishing mindfulness practices, and successfully losing weight.

Elizabeth is also a certified yoga instructor, and teaches regular yoga classes and holistic health workshops in the community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from UNC-Chapel Hill, and has received additional formal training in health behavior change, nutrition, aromatherapy, and Reiki. She believes that individuals can find joy, freedom, and optimal health by bringing the details of their lives into alignment with their core values, and brings this philosophy into her coaching relationships.
