Come learn how to begin living an “Intentional Well-being in Your 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s”. In this free information session Duke Integrative Medicine’s Emotional Wellness Team will begin teaching you healthy responses to interpersonal difficulties, depression, anxiety, substance use, and stress.
Living life in the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s is a time of continued exploration and discovery. We set life-changing goals and make powerful decisions while establishing our independence. Our responses to successes and failures experienced during this time of transitions are associated with behaviors that are both helpful and unhelpful to living our best life. Unhelpful responses may be associated with anxiety, depression, substance use, body image concerns and ways of being that contribute to difficulties in marriages, close relationships, and school and employment performance. Young adults may experience onset of chronic physical or emotional illness, loss of loved ones, relocation to new areas, or failing to meet our own or other’s expectations; our responses may distract us from reaching for the life we truly want.
Our thoughts create emotions that affect our bodies, change our behaviors, and cause us to drift away from our best selves. As we drift, we have more negative thoughts, which create stronger emotions and other consequences. This is natural. and so is our tendency of changing towards a much healthier and positive direction. We are more powerful and capable than we know. We just have to learn how to get out of our own way!
Duke Integrative Medicine offers strength-based psychotherapy that is focused on fostering Emotional Wellness for individuals and couples. Led by Dr. Julie Seel, the Emotional Wellness Team utilizes a unique approach based on empirically supported Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing frameworks.
In this holistic setting, we can help you reconnect with joy in your life, improve resiliency, and reach your full potential.
