Faculty: Strategic Planning Course, Leadership Program

James (Jim) Emery, PhD, MBA, is an Associate Professor of the Practice and Faculty co-Director for the Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum (FCCP) at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. FCCP is an experiential learning course in which teams of graduate students complete consulting projects for external client organizations. Client organizations include for-profit and not for-profit firms ranging from start-ups to multinational corporations. Depending on project scope, some project teams travel to client locations in the US or internationally for part of their project activities; other teams perform all of their work locally in the Raleigh-Durham area. In addition to his teaching and administrative responsibilities, Jim has provided executive education and leadership coaching to for-profit corporations, non-profit organizations and government agencies over the past thirteen years. He has conducted and published research on leadership, team work and strategy. Jim received his PhD and MBA in Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. He also holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
