Brian Housle began his career as an educator and athletics coach in the secondary education environment, using his creativity and passion for designing courses that used the most current and research-tested approaches to learning.
Seeking to apply his enthusiasm for instruction to healthcare, Brian landed at Duke in 2001. His first position within Duke Health was as an exercise physiologist for the world-renowned Duke Diet and Fitness Center, and later as the Wellness Manager. His journey as a certified health coach began in 2006, combining his experience in exercise with his background in psychology. Health coaching aligns with Brian’s strong belief in whole-person health, partnering with individuals across a wide spectrum of well-being challenges and helping them advocate for their best health.
Brian is the Education Coordinator for the Duke Health & Well-Being Coach Training Program. His primary role is as instructor for the training program, while designing curriculum and making course enhancements to keep Duke’s training aligned with the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching. His greatest fulfillment still comes from instructing and mentoring students.
As a Duke-Trained Integrative Health Coach and National Board Certified-Health and Wellness Coach, Brian partners with his coaching clients to guide them on their health journey, working together to foster a growth mindset, through curiosity, mindful awareness and self-compassion.
