Recognized as outstanding lecturer, designing new courses, materials, and cross-component curriculum on fitness concepts, health psychology, and exercise nutrition. Consulted with diverse adult client population, developing effective individual programs using fitness assessment tools to determine clinical risk. Mentor/Instructor with Duke Health and Well-Being Coach Training program, guiding students in learning the /Duke DHWCT process for mindful coaching.
Presented nationally for professional organizations and involved in proposals for scientific research. Represent Duke with written media articles on current research and health education. Worked collaboratively with medical staff to maintain on-going evaluation of risk stratification. Acknowledged for effective use of social media to publicize current information on health and obesity management. Lead instructor for many activity courses including Yoga, Pilates, cardiovascular fitness and interval training, aquatics classes, and functional strength training.
Currently, Brian is the Education Coordinator for the Duke Health & Well-Being Coach Training Program. He instructs and mentors students as well as designs curriculum and make course improvements.
As a Duke trained Integrative Health Coach and National Board Certified-Health and Wellness Coach, Brian partners with his coaching clients to guide them on their health journey, working together to foster a growth mindset, through curiosity, mindful awareness and self-compassion.
